We are not so bad.

The mysteries witnessed in a life less ordinary The wonders experienced awe struck, inspiring Whatever you feel has grabbed your attention Moments of brilliance Human invention Something simple That changes the lives Of those who are afflicted Disabled Imprisoned Within shell like forms Eyes peering From inside of a human cell A story written Bringing forth tears An autumnal forest At the edge of your dreams A cold winters day Bathed by a sun That only lights Too low to burn The winds of change are blown in Frost in the garden Glistens Catching your eye In silence you listen We are capable of great beauty Of seeing the good in those driven by duty The nurse who tends Or listens truly She will not judge Caring fully We are human We are man We keep on going Through thick and thin Not two coins for symmetrical rubbing Keep moving on, poverty stricken Do you remember Don't ever forget A sandy beach Playing when young Carrying buckets fr

A smile conceals the ugly truth Deceptive in its candour Protection for the young and fearful A lie to comfort youth The hidden story A tale of woe The tragedies That ebb and flow Pleasure comes at every turn A perfect world Basking under a pleasant sun Gaily skipping Run boy run Why should we as adults fear? The words heard by youngster's Of tender years Careful not to scar and hurt Judging this is very tough The truth will out I recall A phrase repeated over and over Who are we protecting Beneath our lies Saving them from wailing cries If it is broken Difficult to fix Honesty may hold Her own bag of tricks The ticking clock May soothe the pain An umbrella shelters us from rain But only for a while, restrains The wet will hit us Before too long Allow resilience What's right What's wrong The chance to know Is a right indeed Unless the cuts Go in too deep AGL

Lovingly tended Urged to grow Life continues On an even flow A family full Of warmth and caring Hand me downs Bicycle sharing Festivals Not religiously followed Except the traditions Considered as hallowed As we grew up The spots And confusions Hormonally challenged Punk rock and metal There are others you know Who struggled in life Watching drunk father Beating his wife Those who were twisted By life's misadventure Did not have what we had In the deep dark of night No food on the table Empty bottles are strewn Trousers all threadbare Nits in their hair We all seen them in passing Us who were blessed Dishevelled, downtrodden Eyes on the ground I hope now as a parent That I am worthy Of the trust that I have I know I'm no angel Those moments I have But love is the adhesive That will keep me with them
